Hello there! My name is Maria and I am a freelance illustrator living and working in Stellenbosch, South Africa. My illustrations are primarily driven by the need to tell a good story, because stories are really all we have! Whether compiled in a thick book or presented as a series of loose drawings, the aim of my illustrations is always to allow a viewer to delve in and interpret the story for themselves, making it their very own. I hope you find your story in there too!
This little exhibition consists of both framed and unframed original drawings, and opens up on the 5th of August. Please do come by, or pop in during the month of August to have a look-see!

For everyone that’s every wanted to exhibit at Wolves, this is your chance. We’re taking submissions! Submit any film/manual photographic prints to be exhibited during the month of September.
No instagram / hipstmatic / poladroid allowed! Good, old fashioned film prints only!
Unframed, max A4 size.
Email us at hello@wolves.co.za for details or call Shane on 083 460 3015 if you have any questions.
Shane and I have just carted our art piece back from the Toffie Festival in Cape town. We were invited to come up with an ‘inspiration table’ at the expo. This is what we made. We don’t really have an explanation for it, which is cool because it means that you can think what ever you want and no one is going to tell you are wrong.
We are exhibiting it again on Friday, it’s going to part of the Last Night 2 show. We are also selling pieces of it, so if you are in the market for some unusual ceramics, see you there xx

Wolves has some new art up on it’s blue walls. They are original drawings from various artists from here to Belgium. There are some really cool pieces and they are really well priced too. They start at 99c and go up to R1250. The majority of them sit at the R125-R250 mark. I would say come in quick and have a scout and a credit card swipe, cause they are going fast. Shane and I have snapped 3 up already. Yes please. Buying art gives me the same feeling eating a full plate of mini doughnuts does mmmm.

names of the some of the artists featured: Jean de Wet, Maaike Bakker, Michael Linders, Noel Kudo, Paper Jet, Ward Zwart and Astrid Yskout

The idea behind the 99c exhibition is to get people used to buying art. Artists from all over the place such as MJ Turpin, Louis Minnaar, Senyol, Jean de Wet, Nicolene Louw, Lorcan White (Bitterkomix) and Maaike Bakker (who also curates the exhibitions) have contributed work to be sold for as little as 99c a pop, and obviously there are some pricier ones too.
Sloppy Seconds is the mini version of the orignal 99c exhibition (held at Platform on 18th in Pretoria) and will showcase all the lovely little leftover pieces.
The exhibition opens on Friday the 12th of November.
